Introduction
Tranzman provides an extensive logging and reporting on the configs involved in migration.
It helps to understand the status of the migrated components and useful for troubleshooting issues related to migration.
Reports
Reports provides statistical reporting on image catalog and its associated information. The report is available for individual environments and/or as collective.
Click on Views->Reports to access those charts. A selections button on the top right corner is used as a filter for the charts.
will display the charts against data selected for migration.
will display the charts against non selected data.
will display the charts against both selected and non selected data.
Below picture shows the charts against the selected data.
Reports also provides two main additional reporting- Summary and Environment History
Summary
To view the Summary report, navigate to Views->Reports and click on the
icon.
Summary report provides an overall insight of the image Transition status, such as exported, manipulated, imported etc.,.It also gives the Agent information.
The report has two sub section - Agent state information and Image state information.
The Agent state info provides -
- Information about the current state of Tranzman appliance (i.e, configuration_migration, data_transfer, completion etc)
- Shows the up-to-date status of agent connection (RUNNING or STALLED)
- Tells the time since the last connection is made with agent.
- This report also shares info on whether the agent is Origin (O denotes origin) or Destination (D denotes destination).
If finalized, then it is denoted as (Of - Origin finalized) and (Df - destination finalized)
Below is the detailed info of each state of Image-
- data_expired - Shows the number of Images that already expired
- data_purged - Number of images that are migrated to destination
- deselected - tells the number of images that are deselected (by default, Tranzman deselects Catalog backup)
- discovered - number of images that are discovered on server.
- export_complete - Images that are exported.
- export_in_progress - number of images which are export in progress
- export_fatal - failed images during export. To be troubleshooted on Origin side.
- manipulate_complete - Images are updated for import on Destination. These images are stored on Tranzman server (/data partition)
- manipulate_in_progress - Shows the number of images being updated by Tranzman
- import_complete - Total number of images migrated to destination
- import_in_progress - Number of images importing in progress
- import_fatal - Images that failed to migrate. troubleshooting required on destination side.
Environment History
To view the Environment History, Navigate to Views -> Reports and click on the
icon.
A pop-up window showing the history report of environment, the state and the reason for the change in state
Activities
Activities shows all the jobs information. Clicking on the job, provides detailed information about the task.
The task logs can also be downloaded for troubleshooting.
Images
Provides the complete list of discovered images of all the backup domain
Options to manipulate the data migration (ignore images, Reset an image, Force an image as imported etc.,)
Click on an image to view the image information and the different manipulation stages (Image audit)
Tranzman provides different options as below to manipulate the images.
-
Refreshes the images page -
Ignore the selected images. (mark the selected images as Deselected) -
Reset the state of image back to Selected or Discovered -
Forcefully mark the image as imported -
Download the selected images as csv file. -
Upload a custom image list.
Following filters can be applied on images list:
- Origin, Destination and Policy Type drop down provides filtering based on configuration data.
- State and Category filters based on the manipulation status of image .
- Valid data can be entered on other text fields as a custom filtering.
- All dropdown list supports multi-selection filtering and the default is with no filter.
Media
The media related information is available under Views->Media It provides information about the backup medias for selected backup domain. Filters are available to shortlist the media as required <img>
Config Objects
Config Objects, lists the information on all the available configurations that can be migrated Shows the status of each object such as, selected, deselected, imported, not selected Like other menus, Config objects supports filter as well. It is available under Views->Config Objects
The different State are: deselected: The configuration item is excluded by rules in Selections. exported: List the configurations available on origin imported: list the configurations migrated to Destination not selected: Configurations that cannot be selected or added in rules but are auto selected selected: Selected as part of selections or through Rules.
Summary
To view the Summary report, Navigate to Views -> Reports and click on the Summary icon. Summary report provides an overall insight of the image Transition status, such as exported, manipulated, imported etc., It also gives all the added Agent status information.
Restore Usage
Restore specific logs are shown here. Image - ImageId used for restore Path - Source data path Device - NFS/CIFS mounted on Appliance for restore New path - Destination path for restore State - State of restore like new, completed, error etc.
| Note: Restore Logs are shown only when Tranzman is used to restore the data as files i.e. when migration type is
"Recovery to Files" |
Environment History
Environment History logs the Agent state changes such as agent paused and agent resumed against the environment.
Alerts
Alerts provides detailed info on all the warnings, errors created during the migration. To view the Alerts, Navigating to Views->Alerts in Tranzman UI. Alerts are categorized to SYSTEM, SYSOPS,MEDIA,AGENT and CONFIG Alerts also helps to view and troubleshoot failed Jobs that run on agents. Clicking on Task number of an Alert, opens detailed logging. Warning messages are highlighted in Amber and Fatal/error messages are highlighted in Red Clicking on download icon (top left), downloads full log and associated files for troubleshooting
Activities
Activities section provides information of all the jobs that has run or are running on the Tranzman appliance. Jobs can be filtered by Environment,Action,State,Job Number. The logs can also be downloaded.
