Introduction

Tranzman has two License model:

  • Same Product Transitioning - Licenses will be worked out depending on the Catalog size to be migrated.
  • Cross Product Transitioning - Licenses will be worked out depending on the size of the data to be converted.

Licensing for Same Vendor Transition

Licensing is based on:

  • Combined IP address of the Origin and Destinations and the Tranzman Appliance
  • Expiration Date (1 year from its issue)
  • Operating System of the Origin and Destination
  • Backup Products on the Origin and Destination
  • Image count / Protected Size
  • A unique Instance ID that is generated when TZM is deployed.

Navigate to Tasks -> License to view the Licensing information.

The License page shows the information required by Stone Ram to generate the license enablement code.
This can be generated after the Selections and must be generated using the TZM deployment in the customer environment and not on the TZM VA for Assessment

Licenses can also be added easily to the Tranzman Appliance through the Web GUI by adding the license in Your license key is: text field on the same page and hit Tranzman commit button.jpg.

A valid license key should show Your license key is: in green

Licensing for Cross Vendor Transition/Recovery Without Vendor

Licensing is based on:

  • Combined IP address of the Origin and Destinations and the Tranzman Appliance
  • Subscription Term
  • Subscription Tariff
  • Operating System of the Origin and Destination
  • Backup Product on the Origin and Destination
  • A unique Instance ID that is generated when TZM is deployed.

Availing Demo License

A special patch is available to convert the Tranzman environment into a demo environment. The change is irreversible and cannot be changed to non-demo environment or to extend / apply other license keys after the DEMO patch is installed. The patch should not be used in a production environment. The patch that enable the environment to function for up to 38 days (depending on the date the patch was generated). Demo Patches are generated every Monday. This can only be used with Agents running on Windows or Linux based Backup Servers Up to 2 Origins and 2 Destinations with a maximum of 2 pairs can be created.

Demo License limitation

For Same Vendor Transition, the patch has the following hard limits.

  • Maximum supported image count for migration is 1000.

For Cross Vendor Transitions and Recovery Without Vendor, the limitations are as follows.

  • Conversion/ Recovery of up to 1TB of data.
  • Only Supports TSM, NetBackup, DataProtector
